She say... these are fun things to do in LA/Hollywood

While I was in LA for work I realized that travel destinations is another topic Aaron and I have a lot to say about. So our first city - LA.

It used to be that the area of Hollywood where tourists most wanted to go was actually quite run down and seedy. To help, they build the complex at Hollywood and Highland. It has turned the spot around and is a great place to stay. There is a Renaissance Hotel connected to the shopping center that is very convenient.

This is a fun place to be at because the famous walk of stars is here - I like to spot the unusual stars like Houdini and Winnie the Pooh.

A short way down from Hollywood and Highland is Grauman's Chinese Theatre. In front of the theatre are the hand and footprints of stars. These are fun to check out too.

The Kodak Theatre is located in Hollywood and Highland and they give tours. It is a beautiful theatre and if you watch American Idol or the Oscars it cool to see inside.

Here is a tip. A great place for a photo of the Hollywood sign is on the walkways at the end of the Hollywood and Highland complex near the hotel.

There are also the usual spots to check out. Beverly Hills...

Venice Beach...

and Santa Monica Pier.

Here are some places you might not have thought about... The LaBrea Tarpits! It's the location of big puddles of tar that trapped animals for ages. The puddles are still there and they continue to bubble and gurgle away. Inside you can see displays of critters they pulled out of there.Another thing to try out is hiking Runyan Canyon. There is a great view from the top, you will see lots of dogs and maybe even a star or two.

Last but not least... two of my favorite things about traveling in Californina... In-n-Out Burger.... (here is the secret menu in case you needed it) The fried are just kind of ehhhh, but the burgers. I don't know what they put in those burgers to make them better than any burger on earth but it's working. The chocolate shakes are great too.

And Jamba Juice! My fav is the Banana Berry. I experiment with others but always come back to this one.

  1. I live in So Cal and LOVE In-N-Out, actually just had it the other day. Did you know that you can ask for a lot of extras but pay the same price? My burger = cheeseburger + extra lettuce + grilled and raw onion + chopped peppers. YUM!

  2. Aren't you glad they have Jamba Juice and Baja Fresh in Manhattan now as well!

I do love visiting family in LA. In and Out Burgers are awesome but the fries were ummm lacking?
